Mr & Mrs Lansing

Kevin and Sarah were married on January 10, 2011 in an intimate ceremony surrounded by family. Love radiates off these two like rays of light. I was honored to be present and capture the moments as they vowed to love each other forever.

As  I was going through the images I took at the Stock Show parade I came across the image below. It’ pretty unremarkable.

As you can see it is really dark  and I wanted  to lighten it up a bit so you could see the faces of the other two  girls whose faces were not in the sun. Upon lightening it my eyes were initally drawn to the smiling young lady in the center. Then my eyes slowly drifted to the lower  right hand  corner to see this…

cowboys on parade

The 105th National Western Stock Show is in town. The first big rodeo of the year. Stock Show is so much more than a rodeo. It is, as it’s name suggests, a stock show. If you can find it on a farm chances are you will find it being exhibited there. But for the most part you are going to get your fill of horses and cattle. I had a love hate relationship with the Stock Show as a kid. I got to ride in it, which I loved. It was always snowy and cold, which I hated. I was a boy crazy girl surrounded by cute cowboys, which I loved. It was always butt-ass cold, which I hated. It got me out of school, which I loved. I think I mentioned something about the weather, which I hated. Every year they have the Stock Show Kickoff Parade in Downtown Denver. It is a short little thing of a parade, maybe 10 minutes long. So why go all the way downtown for a 10 minute parade? Because it is the only time of the year you get to see a herd of Longhorns being driven down 17th Street. Denver is a cowtown after all.

Went to the Denver Zoo Lights the other night and had a little fun with the ol’ camera.

Last week I went out to visit with my girlfriend Heidi. She had wanted me to see the new additions to her family. She had recently purchased a young mustang mare and a female donkey, also known as a jenny, from a BLM auction. While I love me some horses I could not get over how cute this little donkey was. Her name is Blue. Try as I might, every time I looked at her I could not help but to yell “Donkey” just like Shrek.

I am not a cat person

•November 4, 2010 • 2 Comments

I have always been a dog person. I mean kitties are cute and all…but they are not dogs. I have been wanting to get a dog ever since I lost my German Shepherd, Murphy, two and a half years ago. But then we moved to Washington and could not have a dog where we lived.  I figured I would get a dog when I moved back to Colorado in May. That didn’t work out either because it seemed I was out of town more than I was in town. I then decided to wait until Husband got home, because I would like to get another German Shepherd and it is best if the dog bonded with us both at the same time. Plus we have no idea if we are staying in Colorado when he gets back and I don’t want to move a dog cross country.

For the last few months I have been looking at some area rescues online to see what dogs they had available. On occasion I would look at the cats too. Never really considered getting one…until yesterday. I was at a PetSmart up north with a friend. As we walked by the cats a little creamy colored cat with light grey points came up to the glass and meowed at me. She had the bluest eyes I had ever seen and she seemed so sweet. She was only 5 months old so she had some of that cute kitten-ness still going on. But I am not a cat person. So we left. My stupid brain kept thinking about that kitty. I sent Husband an email asking if he would mind if I got a cat. I did not hear back from him so I figured no kitty. Then at 2:00am he responded saying I could get the kitty. I think he was just relieved I was not asking for a dog or a horse…again.  So this morning I dragged My Friend Jenn up to that PetSmart and I adopted that kitty. Oh Crap I now own a cat!

I named her Kitty Kitty Bang Bang and she is pretty awesome.

if Charlie Brown picked out a pumpkin…

…I imagine it would look something like this.

Yesterday I joined Cora, My Friend Jenn and part of her family on a little trip north of Denver to a pumpkin patch. It was an absolutely beautiful day, a perfect day to be out picking pumpkins with pals. It is warm again today. The kiddos are lucky this year having good weather for their tricks or treats. I am staying in to watch scary movies and hand out candy. I have a few friends swinging by so I can see the cute costumes on their little ones. I can’t wait!

Happy Halloween!
